Well this is my first post on the new blogspot.
I haven't got any pics to post yet, but I will when I sort out the problem of getting the photos off my camera and on to the computer. I don't know why it isn't working, but it isn't!
We have successfully negotiated a good rent on the shop in Fethiye that we wanted. It is right next to the Mulberry Tree Cafe and quite close to that other great Fethiye eatery, Pasa Kebab. As Tony Blair once said, 'location, location, location' - and this little shop is in a darn good location.
We officially take over in April, so we'll have one month to get ready to open in May for the beginning of the season. A lot of my original design jewellery has been made over the winter and I'm looking forward to displaying it in the shop.
I'm using more silver and gold filled fittings. Lots of semi precious minerals and pearls and will of course be taking commissions as well as the ready to wear collections. So you can order something at the start of your holiday to take home with you, or wear with a favourite outfit.
Chokers are back in style this summer and there will be plenty of those to choose from.
I was busy all through the winter, selling at jewellery parties and even exporting some stuff to the UK for jewellery parties there. I'm looking forward to the challenge of running the shop with Yakup.
I have also started a range of luxury greeting cards, original one off designs incorporating precious materials in those too. I've got plenty to keep me busy over the next couple of months. Yakup will have to deal with all the 'business' stuff while I sit and create lovely stuff.
With the luggage allowances so miserly and money in short supply this year, I am hoping that my beady things will provide inspiration for easy to pack and affordable gifts.
For those with money to spend and who prefer their jewellery to be gold and expensive. I have an exclusive arrangement with the Fethiye Gold Centre this year. I will be able to book a car (free) to pick you up at your hotel and take you for a no obligation tour of the Gold Centre, which is so fabulous its worth going there just to look at the amazing things they make there.
They will repair your gold jewellery, just as I will repair your beaded costume jewellery in the shop.
Well, I'll be posting here regularly as and when there are new developments, so keep an eye on the blog and I'm looking forward to seeing some of my last years guests and friends in the shop. Pop in to say hello and have a cup of tea with us.
Regards
Lynda and Yakup
